Senior Social Worker

Covers the areas of: London, the South and South-West of England

Practice and expertise: Adult and children’s social care reports for EHCP appeals and Tribunals, care needs assessments for adults and children, deprivation of liberty, mental capacity and best interests decisions.

Lynsey predominantly works across our London, Southampton and Exeter office areas and specialises in mental capacity assessments and care reports for adults and children for EHCP appeals.

Lynsey qualified as a Social Worker in 2010, completing a BA (hons) in Social Work at the Open University whilst working for a large County Council. Lynsey has worked as a Social Worker, Senior Social Worker and Team Manager in community-based teams and a busy acute hospital discharge team. Lynsey was instrumental in the Discharge to Assess project as it was developed at the hospital. As a team manager, Lynsey has supervised a team of Social Workers helping to ensure the smooth discharge from hospital for patients.

Lynsey has been a mental capacity assessor since 2010, in 2016, Lynsey qualified as a Best Interests Assessor and now undertakes some of our mental capacity assessments and COP3 reports across the South and South West of England. Lynsey is Achieving Best Evidence Trained since 2008 (and updated her training whilst working as a Police Constable). This provides her with the skills necessary to assess young children and vulnerable adults. Lynsey draws on these skills when undertaking mental capacity and SEND appeal reports for young people and vulnerable adults.

When she is not working, Lynsey enjoys spending time with her family in Bournemouth. She loves nature and long walks in the countryside.
