Human Rights Act Reform: A Modern Bill of Rights

Following an independent review of the Human Rights Act, on 14th December 2021, the Government have started a consultation period for their proposed changes to the Human Rights Act. Their intention is to replace the current Human Rights Act with a Bill of Rights. You can find out more information by visiting their website which says, "Proposed new legislation aims to strike a proper balance between individuals’ rights, personal responsibility and the wider public interest. This would be achieved while retaining the UK’s commitment to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)."
As part of the consultation period (which ends on 8th March 2022, the Government are seeking responses to specific questions and responses to human rights more generally. The specific questions can be found here in the consultation document and a link to follow to respond can be found here.
